Q: How and why did the Peace-Builders start?

A: The Peace Builders formed in 2017 in response to the Peace First Challenge

 

 

Q: Who can join?

A: Anyone between the ages of 14-24 can join as a Peace-Builder; we are also willing to collaborate with individuals who are older.

Q: How many members do you have so far?

A: There is currently a small steering team. Many more young people show up to participate in activities or events.

 

 

Q: What is the Peace-Builders’ relationship with IACO?

A: Peace-Builders is affiliated with IACO (Interfaith Association of Central Ohio). IACO’s mission is to create an interfaith community based on understanding, friendship, and trust. IACO, a 501(C3) non-profit charitable organization, serves as fiscal agent for Peace-Builders.

Q: How often does your group meet?

A: Our steering team meets once a month. We meet more often, however, as needed.

 

 

Q: How does your group determine what kind of events you want to plan/be involved in?

A: We often receive invitations to participate or co-sponsor events with non-profit intercultural/interfaith organizations. When creating our own events, we respond to local/national issues based on our values (peace, justice, and tolerance).

Q: Do the Peace-Builders ever collaborate with other youth groups?

A: Yes! We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with other youth groups.

Q: Do the Peace-Builders give volunteer hours?

A: Yes! As a non-profit organization, the Peace Builders/IACO is able to sign off on volunteer hours to meet high school graduation requirements, as well as to help young people build interpersonal and organizational skills.

 

Q: How can you support the Peace-Builders?

A: There are a number of ways you can help:   

  • You can join our group – be a part of the steering team.

  • You can volunteer at events.

  • You can simply show up/attend our events.

  • You can like/share our posts/flyers for events.

  • You can be a Peace-Builder in your school and community, and share your stories with us!
